“Change for 100” Challenge: Eligibility, Rules & Submission Guidelines

Eligibility

  • You must be an entrepreneur who will be starting a new business or expanding an old business with the aim of positively affecting your community. “Entrepreneur” refers to an individual or a team that is starting or expanding a business.
  • You must be between the ages of 16 and 30 at the time of entry into the competition.
  • For now, this competition is open to people who live in the following cities: Ibadan and immediate environs.
  • You must be available to present your proposal before a panel of judges at Suite 16c, Students Union Building, University of Ibadan sometime during the second week of March (specific dates will be communicated to eligible applicants).

Rules

  • Your plan must involve using your business to impact your community.
  • Individuals or groups may submit a business proposal, but only one proposal entry is allowed.
  • If your business proposal is submitted by a team, the Grand Prize will be awarded to the team as a whole.

Prizes
Five selected entrepreneurs will be awarded the following Grand Prize:

  • An investment of $100 in your new or previously existing business.
  • Personal mentoring by an assigned mentors to help you execute your idea for change.
  • A packet of books and resources on entrepreneurship, leadership, and social change.
  • Free promotion of your business through our utilized media avenues.
  • Opportunity for sponsorship to national, regional, and/or international training events and conferences.**

Submission Guidelines
Entry into Change for 100 Challenge is by proposal submission and oral presentation.

Note: Business Proposal templates are also available for pick-up at the office of The F.A.I.T.H. Initiative

All submissions will be screened by our judges and selected candidates will be invited to present their proposals orally before a panel of judges within the first two weeks in March (This blog will be updated once the exact dates are determined).

Important Dates
Registration and Proposal Submission Opens: 7th February, 2011

Press Conference and Competition Briefing: 18th February, 2011 at  Suite 16c, Students Union Building, University of Ibadan

Submission of Written Proposals Closes: 4th March, 2011

 


*You will receive the Naira equivalent of $100 based on currency exchange rate at the time the prize is awarded. The $100 will be an investment in your business. You will be expected to actually carry out your idea.

** Sponsorship will be based on additional selection criteria such as sustained leadership in your community, performance, and availability.
